The Process

The Journey Of A Yes

The journey of being a missionary brought a strong tension to my life.

I mean how did this all add up? Here I was studying to become a worship leader and youth pastor, and NOW He is calling me to the nations. How does that work? I thought I had total clarity on what my passions and skills were. But here is the cool thing, God didn't want to REPLACE my calling, He wanted to MULTIPLY it.

God revealed to me that I was only viewing my calling in a monotone sort of way. Just using one color to paint a canvass of ministry. I was using the color 'Worship Leader Orange' and I thought I knew exactly how that was going to play out: Graduate Bible school. Meet the girl of my dreams. Populate the earth. Take a job offer from a local church. Lead worship.Dominate culture.

“God’s looking for people with nothing to gain, and nothing to lose” - Paul Jo. I knew exactly what I was supposed to do.

Instead of all that….the summer before I graduated, God asked me if I would give one year overseas? Dedicating my first year after graduating Bible school to nations. And that decision has multiplied in and through my life over and over again. I’ve been a missionary for 17 years now, serving in dozens of nations. I’m thankful that I didn’t decide my future, but I simply followed the Lord’s steps and leading.
