Tom Tucker and his wife Marg have ministered in Kenya, East Africa since the early 1990’s. After Marg’s passing in May of 2023, Tom has continued on in the work he and Marg started all those years ago. Tom lived in northern Ontario Canada when he committed his life to the Lord. He, Marg and their two children were baptized at the same time and began a life style
change that would lead them on a great adventure. Eventually their journey with God settled in a ministry in Kenya.
Tom has been an active worker his whole life, involved in many different careers. He never understood why he had such a desire to go into so many different types of work. After he gave his heart to Jesus, he was invited to go on a mission trip to East Africa. During that trip, God gave him and Marg a strong desire to work in Kenya. God worked miracles to help them get to Africa. For the first 10 years they were very involved in evangelizing using the Jesus film all over the country side, which saw many come to Christ. They were also committed in teaching seminars to pastors and church leaders.
Tom’s many career experiences began to make sense once they started working in Kenya, because he and Marg were asked to help develop a vocational training center. Tom and Marg found the land and began the process of building a school on the shore of Lake Victoria in Matoso, Kenya. Each one of Tom’s career skills came into play during the construction of the new school. He was able to direct every area of construction because he had years of experience in each area required to successfully build-out the school project. That project became Agape Vocational Training Center. For 10 years Tom and Marg devoted their ministry to the physical and spiritual training of the lost street boys in Kenya.
Now through a miracle from the Lord, Agape has turned into Sowing & Reaping Vocational Training Centre. Now everyone is welcome to better themselves by learning a trade that will help them to earn a living. The mission of SRVTC is to minister to the student’s body (through physical education), mind (through learning their trade) and spirit (through the daily teaching of the Word of God). For the past 8 years Tom has been the project manager over Sowing & Reaping. He is responsible for the growth of the school both physically and spiritually, by overseeing construction of new buildings and by ministering to the students and sharing the love of Jesus. In his spare time, Tom also travels to local churches and schools preaching the good news of Jesus Christ and has a ministry helping over 85 widows monthly with support so they will have food to eat.
Tom has been blessed with strength, vision for the days ahead and grace to continue on in the Lord’s work.
